Description

Puff DTF Powder 1 kg for raised garment transfers

Puff DTF Powder is a special-effect transfer material for printers who want a raised finish instead of a conventional flat DTF print. This listing is for a 1 kg pack supplied in silver packaging, with a declared particle-size grade of 150–300 micron. The intended fabric-weight range is 160–400 GSM. It is a backorder item with a 20-day availability lead time, so please plan sampling and production around that schedule.

What you receive for the listed price

  • 1 kg of puff DTF powder in silver packaging.
  • Declared grade: 150–300 micron. Intended fabric weight: 160–400 GSM, subject to testing. Available on a 20-day backorder before courier transit.

We recommend starting with a small, representative design on the actual garment you intend to decorate. A raised print changes the way light falls on the artwork and how the surface feels. The best result is a balance between a clear design, a consistent adhesive layer and a heat process matched to the supplied material. This powder is a consumable for a textile transfer workflow; the pack does not include printed transfers, ink, film or equipment.

Pack and grade specifications

  • Pack weight: 1 kg.
  • Packaging: silver pack; unbranded material.
  • Declared particle size: 150–300 micron.
  • Intended fabric weight: 160–400 GSM, subject to substrate testing.
  • Application: raised-effect textile DTF transfers.
  • Availability: backorder, with a 20-day lead time.

The micron value describes the stated powder grade, not the height of the finished print. Fabric GSM describes weight per square metre; it does not tell you the fibre composition, surface treatment or heat tolerance. Two fabrics with the same GSM can respond differently to the same transfer. There is no fixed puff height, yield per kilogram or universal pressing temperature promised for this listing.

Where the raised effect makes a difference

Puff DTF Powder suits artwork where tactile definition is part of the design: bold lettering, simple logos, larger shapes and selected accent areas. It can help a short word or graphic stand out on a T-shirt or heavier garment, provided the substrate and transfer process have been validated together. It is worth considering how the design looks from both close up and normal viewing distance, rather than judging only the amount of lift.

A raised surface can soften fine gaps and change the appearance of small text. Start with open shapes and allow space between adjacent elements. If a design combines flat and raised areas, establish a suitable selective application method before offering that effect to a customer. Applying different materials together without testing can introduce uneven bonding and inconsistent expansion.

How to use Puff DTF Powder

Prepare the artwork using the normal textile DTF workflow for your printer and RIP. Print onto compatible transfer film using suitable DTF ink, then apply the powder to the wet printed area. Aim for even coverage and remove loose excess carefully. Keep the surrounding unprinted film clean, since stray particles can leave unwanted marks when transferred.

Curing, transfer pressing and puff activation must follow the instructions for the material actually supplied. Some puff systems use a separate activation stage, so do not assume that a standard flat-transfer recipe is sufficient. The sequence, time, temperature, pressure and peel method need to work together with the film and fabric. A powder grade alone is not enough information to set those values. Record a successful sample before committing to a production run.

Choosing fabric and checking the first sample

The intended 160–400 GSM range covers a range of fabric weights, but it is not a promise of compatibility with every garment in that range. Record the fibre blend, colour, stretch, finish and any coating. Check whether the garment can tolerate the proposed heating process and whether its surface provides a suitable bond. Use an offcut or a spare garment from the same production batch where possible.

When sampling Puff DTF Powder, keep the artwork, film, ink coverage and powder application consistent. Change one process variable at a time so the effect of each adjustment is clear. After cooling, inspect the edges, adhesion, raised texture and colour appearance. Check the print under the stretch and care conditions appropriate to the garment before approving repeat work. Keep the approved sample as a reference for subsequent batches.

Practical troubleshooting

Uneven lift can come from uneven coverage, inconsistent heating or variation in the fabric surface. First check that the powder layer and print preparation are repeatable. If small details merge or edges become soft, simplify the artwork and review the expansion behaviour on a sample. More powder or more heat is not automatically the correct solution.

If the raised area becomes flattened, review the pressing sequence and pressure rather than repeatedly reheating the same garment. For weak adhesion, assess the substrate, curing and transfer stages together. Avoid hiding a process problem with a heavier coating. A short sample log with the actual settings, material batch and observed result is more useful than relying on a temperature quoted for a different brand.

Storage and workshop handling

Keep the silver pack sealed between uses and protect the powder from moisture and contamination. Use clean tools and clearly labelled working containers. Keep this special-effect material separate from standard hot-melt powder so that the two grades are not mixed accidentally. Handle gently to limit airborne dust and follow the supplied safety data sheet for ventilation, personal protection and disposal.

Do not return contaminated powder to the original pack. Keep a note of when the pack was opened and use the supplier’s storage and shelf-life guidance when available. This listing does not claim a particular certification, wash-cycle rating or chemical formulation that has not been confirmed for the supplied grade.

Complete the transfer workflow

Use Puff DTF Powder with a matched textile printing setup. You can compare our DTF PET films, DTF inks and heat presses when planning the process. For a conventional flat finish, compare the separate standard hot-melt powder options; soft powder and puff powder serve different finishing aims.

The gallery contains an illustrative example of a raised finish and six educational guides. These are clearly labelled illustrations and guides, not photographs of the supplied pack or a guaranteed finished result. Your order is for the stated 1 kg powder pack. The 20-day backorder lead time applies before the normal courier journey; check the current checkout information when placing an order.
